Job Summary

The Kitchen Attendant is responsible for cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, cleaning the storerooms, and waste management in the kitchens.

Organizational Status

Reporting to the Sous Chef, the position interacts with other Food Services Staff. Receives direction and guidance from the First Cook.

Work Performed

  • Responsible for cleaning the kitchen.
  • Washes dishes.
  • Cleans the storerooms.
  • Waste management in the kitchen.
  • Responsible for training new Kitchen Attendants as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Poor kitchen maintenance could results in unsanitary conditions and fines from the Health Board. Improper food care or storage could result in food waste and lost resources and unnecessary costs.

Supervision Received

Reports to the Sous Chef. Takes day to day direction from the First Cook.

No supervision given.

Minimum Qualifications

Grade 10 or equivalent and Food Safe Level 1 Certificate. 1 year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
